The Burning Season é um álbum bastante diversificado que consegue integrar as novas tendências a nível do "goth" num todo bastante satisfatório, ouve-se sons electro, folk, postpunk e metal!!!.
Comparando com o q se faz hoje em dia a nível de goth-rock é um álbum excelente, a Mónica Richards parece estar melhor que nunca (visualmente e musicalmente =) ) e o William parece que conseguiu evoluir de "vampirão" para qcoisa mais sóbria.

"He will be best remembered as one of the Electronic pioneers who, alongside Human League, Cabaret Voltaire and The Normal, were at the forefront of the Electronic Movement of the late '70s/early '80s.

Fad Gadget was the first signing to the Mute label with the release of his debut single, the ground breaking 'Back To Nature' in October 1979. Recorded using a drum machine and synthesiser, a string of classic singles followed including 'Ricky's Hand', 'Fireside Favourites' and 'Collapsing New People'. A truly unique artist, his live shows were legendary and quickly established Frank Tovey as one of the most exciting acts around. The shows often ended with Frank injuring himself from his intense performance. He recently toured Europe with label mates Depeche Mode on the Exciter tour and was working on new material at the time of his death. "

Unfortunately this group blew themselves up whilst trying to make and hide bombs in their Mental Hospital

Defixiones, Will and Testament

"DEFIXIONES" refers to the warnings engraved in lead which were placed on the graves of the dead in Greece and Asia Minor. They cautioned against moving or desecrating the corpses under threat of extreme harm.

"WILL AND TESTAMENT" refers to the last wishes of the dead who have been taken to their graves under unnatural circumstances.

The concert material that Galás has included in this song cycle includes music set to the texts of the Armenian poet/soldier Siamanto; the Belgian/French poet Henri Michaux; the Syrian/Lebanese poet Adonis; the rembetika songs of Sotiria Bellou; the Anatolian Greek Amanedhes; the blues music of the American musicians Boise Sturdevant and Blind Lemon Jefferson, and the sacred songs of the Deep South. A new addition to the song cycle is a striking piece written by Galás called "The World Has Gone Up In Flames", which premiered at Royce Hall (UCLA) November 2001. Galás warns that, even in death, those that were chosen to die have not been defeated nor are they forgotten. "My death is written in a rock that cannot be broken."

The work is concerned with the poet/author living in exile, away from his homeland. DEFIXIONES, WILL AND TESTAMENT speaks for individuals who have had to live as outlaws, as they were treated as outlaws; and for those who have had to create houses out of rock.

DEFIXIONES, WILL AND TESTAMENT is dedicated to the forgotten and erased of the Armenian, Assyrian, and Anatolian Greek genocides which occurred between 1914 and 1923.

La Serpenta Canta aka The Serpent Sings, is a song recital recruiting blues, R&B, Motown, southern soul, Country & Western and her own "Baby's Insane" (from This Sporting Life, her duo album with John Paul Jones) in Galás's ongoing campaign against forgetting.

A highly inventive composer and pianist, Galás's compelling low end piano settings draw on her background in free jazz – overtly acknowledged in La Serpenta Canta's version of Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman" – modern composition and the electronic avant garde. Bonded by Blind Lemon Jefferson's "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean", which features on both sets, Defixiones and La Serpenta Canta variously illuminate, extend and support each other's ways of grieving. With songs like James Carr's deep soul classic "Dark End Of The Street" (covered earlier on her duo album with John Paul Jones), Hank Williams's "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and Screaming Jay Hawkins's "I Put A Spell On You" bookended with John Lee Hooker's "Burning Hell", La Serpenta Canta may start in a familiar place but Galás's vocal methods of interrogating the popular memory of such songs examines each word and note from every angle, in the process reinvesting them with the full weight of meaning and emotion that might have been hitherto eroded through familiarity. The Supremes' "My World Is Empty Without You" – which Galás first assayed on her 1998 song cycle Malediction And Prayer – has never before sounded so desolate as in her sounding of its abyssal depths here. The songwriting team Holland-Dozier-Holland might have conceived it as a lovers' breakup song, but in Galás's reading, "My World Is Empty Without You" serves as a portal to both La Serpenta's darker companion, Defixiones, Will And Testament, and, indeed, the entire canon of mourning music that Galás has amassed since her 1979 international debut in a French staging of composer Globokar's Un Jour Comme Une Autre.
